Could you represent us at the Board of Deputies?

The United Synagogue is represented at the Board of Deputies by two ‘central’ Deputies – Hadley Wood’s John Melchior and Edgware’s Sylvia Hartman – in addition to some 80 hardworking Deputies from United Synagogue shuls. We are keen to invite another US member to represent us centrally. You will work with John and Sylvia and hear from US Trustees to understand the charity’s priorities and values and convey them to the Board’s Honorary Officers, fellow Deputies and staff as appropriate.

You do not need to have been involved in the Board of Deputies before, though Trustees are keen to hear from candidates with relevant communal experience and particularly keen to attract younger people to apply.

If you are interested in applying, please send a few paragraphs outlining your interest and experience to deputy@theus.org.uk by 25 April 2024. Please include your synagogue. Trustees will elect one Deputy from the candidates. Good luck!
