Sunshine, food and community were the perfect ingredients for Barnet shul’s New Members’ barbecue last weekend. Rabbi and Rebbetzen Lister, along with council representatives, extended a warm welcome to the newest additions whilst enjoying the summer weather.
Over 45 people attended the event, which offered a wonderful opportunity to chat and connect in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere as well as enjoying excellent BBQ fare cooked by members of the community.
In his welcoming remarks, Rabbi Lister, noted that he himself was one of the newest members of the shul having only joined the community in January, and was looking forward to getting to know new members.
Warden Jonny Leigh, who helped organise the event said that he was happy so many people had attended, adding that: ‘As with all good Jewish events it was somewhat over-catered – and everyone enjoyed the relaxed and friendly atmosphere.’
Rabbi Lister felt that the event was ‘a resounding success’ and that everyone that he spoke to from children to seniors had been ‘enthused’ by the welcome they had received and excited to be part of the Barnet community.
He added: “It was a hugely enjoyable afternoon that saw friendships and connections blossom in the sun – here’s to next year!
