Members were privileged to have the attendance of local dignitaries from the London Boroughs of Brent and Harrow at the AJEX Shabbat Service which was led by Rabbi Yehuda Black and Dr. Robert Brody.
As the Deputy Lieutenant for Brent Mei Sim Lai OBE DL was unable to be there, she requested the Deputy Lieutenant for Tower Hamlets Lesley Morgan OBE DL to represent her. Other attendees included His Worship the Mayor of Brent Cllr. Tariq Dar MBE who was making his first visit to a Synagogue, Cllr. Anjana Patel who was representing His Worship the Mayor of Harrow, Barry Gardiner MP for Brent West, Krupresh Hirani AM, GLA member for Brent and Harrow, Cllr. Neil Nirva representing the Leader of Brent Council, Cllr. Mohammed Butt, Brent and Harrow Councillors from the neighbouring Wards, PC Elaine Jackson, Faith Liaison Officer for Brent, Harrow and Barnet, PCSO Richard Perrett, Geraldine Cook, Vice President of Wembley and Sudbury Branch Royal British Legion together with AJEX members from the area.
Rabbi Black introduced the guests at the commencement of the Service and gave a short address on the exceptional contribution Jewish men and women have made to the Armed Forces in fighting for their country and also subsequently in theatres of war. Various parts of the Service were read by AJEX members of the Synagogue and other members.
Following the conclusion of the Service a large and delicious Kiddush was held, organised by Priscilla Dale, Chairman of the Ladies Guild together with a team from the Ladies Guild.
