An evening of tribute and remembrance

Over 200 people gathered together at Bushey United for an evening of tribute and remembrance to Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terror. The service including prayers for fallen soldiers and the return of our hostages.

The community heard messages from Bushey Olim who are serving in the IDF including Leora Sydney, whose message to our community was read out by her father Grant. We also heard from the families of the two hostages that the Bushey Community have adopted; the daughter of Chaim Peri and the brother of Elkhana Bohbot- who movingly conveyed the need for all hostages to be returned.

The key note speakers were Paul Charney the CEO of Technion UK and the remarkable Rabbi Leo Dee, who spoke to us live from Israel. The service concluded with an uplifting musical Hallel led by Rabbi Lister and Daniel Goldwater and this was followed by Yom Ha’atzmaut celebrations with music from Daniel Goldwater and Bension Morris.

The message from the evening was very clear; that this year it is more important than ever to stand loudly and proudly to celebrate the State of Israel and pray for the return of our hostages.
