On Sunday 30 November, a unique event was held at Bushey United Synagogue. The event, was opened by The Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss. Sir Robert who is a regular visitor to the Shul, commented that Hertfordshire was extremely well supported by charities and that fact was demonstrated by the attendance of so many Jewish Charities.
This event entitled the Healthy Hub, was designed to bring to the Community, specific medical advisory services. The event was instigated together with Hertsmere Borough Council and exhibitors including Prostate Cancer UK, Diabetes UK, AGE UK and a total of 22 organisations made themselves available to the Community.
Included in those attended, were a number of Jewish Charities that supplemented those services and included organisations such as Jewish Care, US Chesed, Jewish Blind and Disabled Independent Living Advisory Services and others that made an opportunity to find out more about specific medical conditions.
Comments made by members of the Community included “Talking face to face”, “Good advice regarding a severely disabled & blind mother”, “It was great being able to talk openly to a number of the people and to learn a bit more about health and well-being”.
