Celebrating 10 Years of Sage at Bushey Shul

Bushey Shul recently marked a significant milestone with the 10th anniversary of Sage, its thriving and much-loved group for senior members. To celebrate this remarkable decade of connection, learning, and friendship, the community came together for a special Kiddush in honour of the occasion.

Launched in 2014, Sage was created to meet the cultural and social needs of members who are retired or semi-retired. What began with just 50 people at its first meeting has grown into a cornerstone of community life, now boasting nearly 400 members and attracting an impressive weekly attendance of 150–200 participants. With 42 weeks of programming each year, Sage continues to enrich the lives of its members through a vibrant mix of activities.

The group’s success is powered by a dedicated committee of 10 volunteers who plan and deliver a diverse programme that includes guest speakers, musical events, current affairs discussions, book and play readings, outings to places of interest, and the ever-popular bridge groups. At the heart of it all is the tea break between sessions  where friendships are formed and strengthened.

Sage’s original slogan still holds true today: “Because it’s never too late to learn.” After 10 years, Bushey Sage continues to prove that learning, laughter, and community have no age limit.
