Women at Golders Green Synagogue had an innovative launch to their new Rosh Chodesh shiurim, “Levana Nights,” which was held at the UCL Observatory in Mill Hill (NW London).

Before a shiur by Rebbetzen Abi Kurzer, they were shown around the site seeing the amazing work that the astrophysicists do there and were able to look through telescopes, one dating back to the 19th century – which his still in working order!

The moon was a bit low but they had a fantastic view of Jupiter and could just about make Uranus too.

One participant wrote: “I had a truly fantastic time. I used to want to do astrophysics as a teen, and I got a real glimpse into a ‘what could have been’ in a way – and I really enjoyed learning more about the telescopes.”
