What to do with your Arba Minim after Sukkot
- As a society we are encouraged to re-use and re-purpose everyday objects. This can be applied in Judaism too?
- Did you know you can dispose of, or repurpose your Arba Minim in an environmentally friendly way?
- Below are some suggestions from Dorot
Lulav & Aravot
- Compost them
- They will naturally break down and return nutrients to the earth!
Etrog
- Compost it
- Or create a fragrant pomander with cloves to use as besamim for Havdallah
Hadas
- Reuse an empty jar and create your own besamim for Havdallah
- A beautiful way to let your mitzvah continue into the week
Plastic Wallets
- Save and reuse for next year
- Or recycle them responsibly
Why It Matters
By composting or reusing your Arba Minim, you:
- Reduce waste
- Care for the environment
- Repurpose something first used for one mitzvah and use it for another
