On 9 March, more than 100 people attended a sumptuous learning breakfast as part of the inauguration of a new parochet for the Belmont community.

It is dedicated to the memory of Melinda Kett a’’h. Designed and created by Israeli textile artist, Shulamit Ron, she came to London to explain the ideas that underlay the parochet, which will be in use from Shabbat Bereishit to Pesach.

It incorporates symbolism from the Tree of Life, the 4 mothers and 3 fathers of our early history, Jerusalem and Kever Rachel:- Rachel being Melinda’s Hebrew name.

Rabbi Nick Kett gave the shiur ‘Behind the curtain’ giving the theological underpinnings which, with his father Russell and brother Justin, had provided the inspiration for the design.
