On Thursday evening we arrived at Shul to find a table filled with noise makers and loads of books of the Megillah, obviously a lot of people were expected.
Shul filled up with usual Members and we were joined by students, many in bright lovely costumes. The Megillah was read by Rabbi Cheruff dressed as a French artist.
After the lovely reading we all entered our Malcolm Locker Suite which was ready to receive the masses. Platters of sushi and the various accompaniments were laid out. There was plenty of food to go round. Rebbetzen Rifki Cheruff had foreseen the attraction so made sure there was plenty. A delicious onion soup, salad, noodles, borekas, drinks. Loads of homemade hamentashen and for those that prefer, tea and coffee.
We then enjoyed watching and some even helping a very clever magician. His mind reading of cards has us absolutely enthralled. It was a wonderful end to a lovely evening.
On Friday morning at 10.30am we listened to Mendel Cheruff reading the Megillah and what a fine job he made of it. A number of students together with members enjoyed a fine brunch laid on for us and again ate too much.
