South Hampstead’s new Senior Rabbi and Rebbetzen

South Hampstead United Synagogue are delighted to announce the appointment of Rabbi Eli and Rebbetzin Lauren Levin as their next Senior Rabbi and Rebbetzen. They are expected to start their roles this winter. Rabbi Eli is currently Rabbi and Executive Director at South Hampstead Synagogue, and Rebbetzen Lauren is currently Director of Education and Yoetzet Halacha.

This follows the retirement of Rabbi Shlomo and Rebbetzen Lynndy Levin after 40 years of service, who will then move to emeritus roles within the community. Rabbi Eli is the son of Rabbi Shlomo and Rebbetzen Lynndy.

The Levins’ appointment comes after a unanimous vote by the Shul Council, a presentation by Rabbi Eli and Rebbetzen Lauren, and then a community vote where 99.6% of members voted in their favour. The community vote had an above average participation rate of 56%.

Danny Kay, Chairman of South Hampstead United Synagogue, said: “We extend our heartfelt Mazal Tov to Rabbi Eli and Rebbetzin Lauren and their family and wish them every success in their new roles. This historic vote marks the first community-wide vote ever taken at South Hampstead and highlights the unity and shared vision of our community. Thank you to all members who participated in this significant decision for our community.

We also look forward to celebrating the remarkable legacy of Rabbi Shlomo and Rebbetzin Lynndy later this year, on the 40th anniversary of their tenure, to express our deepest gratitude for their service. Their influence will continue to guide us in the years to come.”
