The Chesed Hub proudly marked  its first birthday this week!

It truly has been an incredible year now since the Chesed opened the doors to its dedicated new hub.

The operation is only made possible thanks to the dedicated group of volunteers who give their time to support the hub throughout the year to sort, pack and schlepp. These are supported volunteer drivers who  help every week, delivering vital supplies to older, frailer members of the community, those recovering from hospital stays, and families facing financial hardship. The collective time and effort given is remarkable!

Our hub volunteers contribute around 4,032 hours a year, working approximately 6 hours each week. The US Chesed driver volunteers contribute an additional 864 hours annually, giving 2 hours a week on average stacking up to an impressive 4,900 hours of volunteering every single year!

This time and effort directly impact what we’re able to provide to those in need.

Over the past year, we’ve packed and distributed an estimated 24,000 bags filled with fresh produce, fruit, vegetables, and non-perishable essentials. We’ve ordered and delivered approximately 2,656.8 kilograms of cheese and around 5,280 kilograms of potatoes, ensuring individuals and couples receive the food support they rely on each week.

None of this would be possible without the unwavering commitment of our volunteers and the generosity of our donors. Their efforts allow us to continue helping those who need it most. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together and look forward to continued success!

Volunteers combined birthday celebrations with marking Rosh Hashanah with honey cake.

Below are a few photos from this weeks celebrations, taken in between preparing and delivering.
