The saris and jewels came out for a Bollywood extravaganza this week at Barnet shul. Professional award-winning Bollywood choreographer and entertainer, Jay Kumar led the participants in a series of exciting and fast moving dances. A magnificent Indian style vegetarian buffet, made in the shul kitchen by the wonderful Barnet kitchen team and comprising a selection of four curries and three types of rice accompanied by poppadums and chutneys, was well received.
The event appealed to all age groups with around 70 people from across the community coming together for a fun evening that was enjoyed by all.
The evening was made possible by the hard work and dedication of the organising team, including Adrienne Silverman, who was delighted with how the event turned out. She described it as a “stunning evening”, adding: “The decorations, the costumes and the Indian-themed food all helped to set the scene. We felt like a slice of Bollywood had come to Barnet.
