Members of Barnet Shul, together with Rabbi Lister, joined the Remembrance Sunday service at the War Memorial by St Mary’s Church in East Barnet Village. The event began with a march from the East Barnet branch of the Royal British Legion to the memorial, where members of the local community gathered to honour those who gave their lives in service.
Rabbi Lister was among the clergy leading the service, offering prayers and representing the Jewish community. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the shul by Andrew Ross, and on behalf of the children and young people by George Fraser. George shared stories of his family’s service in both World Wars, as well as his personal reflections on remembrance and gratitude.
It was a moving and meaningful occasion, reflecting the strong bonds between our community and the wider East Barnet area coming together to remember and give thanks.
Last Sunday, members representing Barnet Shul marched as part AJEX Remembrance Parade and Ceremony at the Cenotaph, to honour the thousands of Jewish men and women who fought for our freedom.
