Teamwork was the name of the ‘beautiful game’ as Pinner Shul’s weekly Chat and Share cafe got into the World Cup spirit this week, despite the damp weather, with an English football-themed lunch of traditional fish and chips – and of course tea!
The hall was beautifully decorated with England flags and balloons. Members either dressed in England team colours or their home team, which, including two Scots and even a Dutchman, made for some interesting repartee amongst the participants.
Pinner Synagogue Rabbi Jason Kleiman’s ‘Thought for the Week’ was about the value of teamwork, and the afternoon ended with some rousing football songs such as ‘Three Lions’ and ‘Sweet Caroline’, as well as the patriotic ‘There’ll always be an England’.
Rabbi Kleiman said, “It was great to see so many members here this afternoon, all enjoying delicious food, delightful company, and wonderful atmosphere, which, on the subject of teams, would not be possible without the continued dedication of our amazing team of volunteers.”
One of the participants added, with a smile, “I almost didn’t come because of the weather – but I’m so glad I did!”
