Faye and Carl Clements celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last Shabbat. Faye and Carl have been members of our shul for many, many years. Unfortunately, due to poor health, they are unable to attend as much as they would like.
However, we wished them a big Mazel Tov, and their two sons, Geoffrey and David, were in Shul, so of course we conveyed our congratulations to them.
After shul, many friends joined the family for lunch at the home of Geoffrey and Deborah. Most of us, including Rabbi Garber and his family, who officiated at Birmingham Central United this Shabbat, had never before had the privilege of attending such a very special celebration.
Both Faye and Carl spoke at the lunch, and one of their dear grandsons, Joseph, who lives in New York, spoke movingly about their love of family and friendship.
They truly are a very special couple.
