Richmond Synagogue’s playground has been a cherished part of our community for many years, creating joyful memories for countless children, many of whom are now young adults, planning families of their own. It has always held a special place in our hearts, and we felt it was time to give it a well-deserved facelift.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Children’s Aid Committee (CAC)—kindly secured through the efforts of Rabbi Golker and the US Fundraising Team, and with Kosta’s help painting the fence and tidying up, the playground has been thoughtfully planned, managed, and designed to create a welcoming and joyful space for our new generation. While the upgrades are geared toward our youngest community members, it’s no surprise to see adults exploring the area with nostalgic smiles.
A special thank you to Michael McDonnell for expertly hanging all the new sensory and fun items.
Perhaps the most heart-warming feature of the playground is the fence adorned with children’s handprints. Each print contributes to a vibrant “human garden,” a collaborative masterpiece that will remain a sweet memory for all the children, teachers, and parents involved.
We hope this refreshed and joyful space brings delight to everyone who visits—young and old alike.
