For Mitzvah Day this year, Barnet Shul was proud to support Sebby’s Corner by organising a community-wide collection of essential items for families in need. The Barnet based charity supports vulnerable families and children living in poverty across London and the South East.
Over 30 bags of children’s clothing, books, toys and baby supplies were sorted and delivered to Sebby’s Corner by our wonderful volunteers who came to the Shul to sort through donations and those who helped transport and unpack everything at Sebby’s Corner.
We were also privileged to be joined on the day by our MP, Dan Tomlinson, who came to the event with his young son, even donating some books to the cause. His support was greatly appreciated, and of course by our Rabbi whose presence and encouragement helped make the event especially meaningful.
Dan commented, “It was fantastic to mark Mitzvah Day with Barnet United Synagogue. It is great to be with an outward looking and caring community.”
Barnet Shul member and Sebbys Corner volunteer, Talia Foster, was responsible for organising the initiative and did an amazing job in co-ordinating every aspect. She extended her appreciation and gratitude to those involved. “Together, our community made a real difference and your time, energy and kindness made this project possible. The generosity of our members was truly inspiring, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated so thoughtfully.”
