Summer was ending and autumn was beginning, when at least forty-five people could be found in the garden of the Rabbi’s house in Kingston-upon-Thames enjoying this annual fund-raising event for the cheder. It was attended by cheder parents and many older members of the community. Despite the prompt onset of early autumn, it was still pleasantly warm.
People were treated to a barbecued meal of beef and vegetarian burgers, a variety of sausages and chicken, accompanied by different salads. Cold drinks were available.
After the meal, there was a round of bingo, followed by chocolate brownies for dessert and another round of bingo.
