Hatfield Jewish Community held a Shabbaton at a hotel in Letchworth last Shabbat. Around 100 people from the local Jewish community attended and stayed overnight, joining for meals, prayer and time together. The Shabbaton was led by Rabbi Adam and Rebbetzen Racheli Herszaft.
Over the course of Shabbat, participants shared food, took part in games and spent time in conversation. Families, children and older members of the community came together, creating opportunities to meet, reconnect and build relationships.
Chair Sabrina Lee said: “It was fantastic to see around 100 attendees at the Hatfield Shabbaton. This is a true reflection of our rapidly expanding community.
With Jewish people of varying generations coming together, sharing meals, conversation, and meaningful moments. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and genuine connections. The turnout and spirit of the Shabbaton showed just how vibrant, welcoming, and united our community has become.
It is exciting to witness the continued growth of The Hatfield Jewish Community and I can’t wait to see our community continue to flourish.”
One participant reflected on the impact of the weekend, sharing that Rebbetzen Racheli’s closing words, “hopefully everyone has something to take away from the weekend” had stayed with them. They spoke about the experience of taking part in Havdalah for the first time and finding themselves humming the tune in the days that followed. They added their thanks for the company, the meals and the memories created over Shabbat.
The Shabbaton marked another step in the continued development of the Hatfield Jewish Community, bringing people together for shared experiences and connection.
