Interfaith Passover Seder brings Enfield together in a powerful celebration of freedom, faith and unity

Hadley Wood Jewish Community has marked a highly successful Communal Interfaith Passover Seder Meal, bringing together faith leaders, civic representatives and local guests for an evening of reflection, learning and shared community at its synagogue in Hadley Wood. The event was held on Monday 23 March 2026 and was supported by the Enfield Council Multi Faith Forum and Enfield Borough Resilience Group.

Chaired by Mark Ross and led by Rabbi Toby Weiniger, the evening explored traditional Passover prayers, customs and traditions, including the story of the Exodus, the symbolism of matzah and maror, and the theme of the four children as a reflection on diversity within faith communities. Guests also heard speeches from local faith leaders, Enfield Council Cabinet Members and staff and special guest, Bambos Charalambous MP (Southgate and Wood Green) on the theme, “What does freedom mean to me?”

Mark Ross, Chair of Hadley Wood Jewish Community, said:
“This was a very special evening for our community and for the wider borough and was especially poignant as it happened on the same day as the terror attack on Golders Green. Hadley Wood hosts its own Hatzolah Ambulance, which provides emergency medical services to those who need it from across all the communities which were represented at the Interfaith Seder. Passover is a story about freedom, dignity and hope, and it was deeply meaningful to share those themes with friends and neighbours from different faiths and backgrounds. We are grateful to everyone who took part and helped make the evening such a success.”

Throughout the evening, guests shared in the traditions of the Seder meal while reflecting on the importance of freedom, mutual respect and community resilience. The event highlighted the strength of interfaith relationships in Enfield and the value of creating spaces where people can come together across difference in a spirit of friendship and understanding.

The Communal Interfaith Passover Seder formed part of Hadley Wood Jewish Community’s ongoing commitment to building strong local relationships and fostering dialogue between faith communities across the borough. This event is an early highlight of Jewish Culture Month taking place in May/June 2026.
