Mill Hill Community Group host National Holocaust Memorial Day event

On Wednesday 28 January at 7pm, the Mill Hill Community Group hosted a deeply moving National Holocaust Memorial Day event, bringing together members of our community and distinguished guests for an evening of remembrance and reflection.

The Mill Hill Community Group, a cross-communal organisation uniting representatives from the many community organisations and faith groups that make up the rich and diverse fabric of Mill Hill, was honoured to convene this moving and important  gathering. Together, they remembered the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust and reflected on the enduring lessons that continue to shape our moral and civic responsibilities today.

The evening was especially meaningful as the ceremony was dedicated to the memory of Mill Hill Synagogue member and survivor, Harry (Chaim) Olmer MBE z’l, whose life, testimony, and legacy remain a source of inspiration and moral guidance to the community.

Distinguished guests included Martin Russell MBE, Deputy Lieutenant of Barnet; the Mayor and Mayoress of Barnet, Cllr and Mrs Danny Rich; and Cllr Barry Rawlings, Leader of Barnet Council, alongside many members of the Mill Hill community.

The event powerfully reflected a collective commitment to remembrance, education, and the values of dignity and humanity, and served as a reminder of the responsibility we all share to stand against hatred and intolerance in all its forms.
