On Wednesday night, our community gathered to pay tribute to Holocaust Memorial Day 2026.
We were privileged to hear from Dalya Wittenberg, representing ‘Generation2Generation’.
Dalya delivered an inspiring family story about her remarkable grandmother, Cilla Rotblat, a survivor from Poland. Through her words, Dalya expressed how deeply motivating and inspirational Cilla was. Despite facing immense hardship, Cilla remained an independent thinker, refusing to dwell on her losses and instead embracing the positives she had gained in life. Her journey from Poland to Israel, with her husband was marked by resilience and an unwavering determination to build a new life.
Cilla possessed truly unique qualities. The way Dalya shared her grandmother’s life story with our members in Northwood would have made Cilla both proud and delighted. Her example is a powerful lesson for us all.
Generation2Generation is a Holocaust Education Charity established to empower second and third generation descendants of Holocaust survivors to share their family histories with a wide variety of audiences.
The event continued with the Memorial Prayer recited by Andrew Kelion following by a candle lighting service, the first candle being lit by Dalya and her two children. A minute’s silence was observed followed by the Hatikvah.
