Pinner United Synagogue hosted a packed Challah Bake for Hostages on Wednesday 18th July. When the date was chosen it was to fit in with other Synagogue events and the commitments of the organisers; by a miracle this was also the day chosen by the mother of our ‘adopted’ hostage, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, to hold a world-wide Challah Bake for Hostages.

Over 50 people – men, women and children made the challah, and by each place there were photos of two hostages.

A special prayer was said for the release of all the hostages and each participant was invited to have the names of the two hostages in mind.
A live link was arranged with Vered Atzmon Meshulam, psychotherapist, who, among other families, has been helping Noa Argamani’s family.

By another miracle, a son of Pinner community members was able to put her into contact with a friend, son of other members, who was able to be a translator for Liora’s two sisters from China at their reunion in Greece.
Our ‘master challah baker’ David Taylor, shared his story of making his own challot every week for the past 19 years; there was a raffle and merchandise from the Hostage Families Forum was sold.

Over £3000 will go to various charities for the hostages, including a special gift for the Goldberg-Polin family for Rosh HaShanah.

HUGE thanks to the many people who made this evening such a success, but particularly to Naomi Brookarsh.
