Radlett United Synagogue recently welcomed 300 people to the induction of Rabbi Nick and Rebbetzen Shira Kett, which was conducted by the Chief Rabbi. The Ketts have been the rabbinic couple of Radlett since November 2023.
Attendees heard from a number of speakers, including the Chief Rabbi, President of the United Synagogue Michael Goldstein, Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss CBE CStJ and more. Special prayers and blessings were also recited for the Ketts. The ceremony was followed by an afternoon tea for attendees.
The Chief Rabbi reflected on the values of the Jewish tradition and how they are embodied in Rabbi Nick’s leadership. In his address, he said: “Radlett has gained an energetic and inspirational Rabbinic couple who work tirelessly to ensure a vibrant and engaged community.”
Members of the congregation then had the opportunity to offer some readings and prayers reflecting on what this moment means for the community.
Rabbi Nick addressed the congregation with a heartfelt speech, highlighting his and Shira’s vision for the future. Speaking about the importance of compassion, Torah learning, and active community engagement, Rabbi Nick emphasised a commitment to creating a space where every member feels valued and inspired. Rabbi Nick also shared personal reflections on their journey, touching on the influences that have shaped their approach to leadership and faith.
Lewis and Stephanie Osbourne, members of Radlett United Synagogue, said: “We both very much enjoyed the induction of Rabbi Kett and Rebbetzen Shira as the new Rabbinical couple. There was a tremendous atmosphere of warmth and love towards them which was felt by all. Many thanks to all involved in planning this day.”
