One of the most eagerly anticipated events in the St. John’s Wood Synagogue calendar is our annual community summer camp, and this year was no exception! Now in its fourth year, the camp ran from 14th to 25th July and welcomed over 200 children for two weeks of non-stop fun, Jewish spirit, and unforgettable memories.
Camp highlights included exciting trips to the London 2012 Aquatic Centre, Clip ‘n Climb Chelsea, Babylon Park, and Inflatanation.
Each day was enriched with tefillah, Jewish storytelling, creative Jewish curriculum session as well as non-stop creative fun; as well as challah baking and Shabbat parties on the Fridays. We had visits from Lego Robotics, the Happy Puzzle company, our local police officers for the Abbey Road Ward and of course Uncle Doovy!
We were privileged to be joined by a fantastic team of local staff along with six outstanding camp leaders from the USA – some of the most talented and passionate youth leaders around – who brought an amazing energy and warmth to the entire experience.
We concluded the two weeks with a pre-Kabbalat Shabbat drinks reception and a children’s Kabbalat Shabbat in the Main Shul.
The summer holidays offer a unique opportunity for children to build new Jewish friendships, strengthen their sense of community, and, of course, have a whole lot of fun!
We can’t wait for next year already!
