Over 70 people gathered at Belmont Synagogue at an event co-hosted by JODA UK (Jewish Organ Donor Association) entitled ‘Why Jews Should Donate Their Organs’.
The panel event with leading organ donation and transplant professionals, and representation from the Chief Rabbi’s Office heard emotional stories about the impact of organ donation and the ultimate mitzvah of ‘pikuach nefesh’.
Dr Marc Wittenberg, co-founder of JODA UK commented ‘we were very pleased to be able to communicate all the fantastic work that the NHS and Jewish community groups have been undertaking over the past few years to enable as many Jews as possible to sign up to the Organ Donor Register. We strongly encourage people to have conversations with their family and to share their wishes’.
