Bushey United Synagogue marked Yom Hashoah 2026

Bushey United Synagogue marked Yom Hashoah 2026 in the most extraordinary way on Monday 13 April.

“Kindness,” an incredible drama production by Voices of the Holocaust, portraying the life of Susan Pollack OBE, was performed to a packed synagogue audience.

Around 300 people witnessed this powerful play in the presence of Susan herself — a survivor who has devoted so much of her life to educating others about the horrors that prejudice can lead to.

Local MP Sir Oliver Dowden spoke of his steadfast commitment to the Jewish community, and the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss CBE StJ, read a personal letter from HM King Charles III.

The following day, over 100 young people from three local schools came to the synagogue to watch the play.

Michael Bibring of the Bushey Yom Hashoah Committee said:
“It was a fantastic and truly poignant Yom Hashoah for our community, and so heartwarming to hear such support from our local MP and King Charles III.

We were delighted to invite local schools to watch ‘Kindness.’

Education is the key to challenging prejudice and all it can lead to, and we were proud to host this for so many local school children.”
