Rebbetzens Conference Day

A Rebbetzens Conference Day was recently held in London, which was attended by 20 Rebbetzens.

The event was organised by the Rebbetzens’ Representatives of the United Synagogue (RRUS) together with the Centre for Rabbinic Excellence (CRE), with Judy Markovic’s support and funding from the CCE (Centre for Community Excellence).

The theme of the day was ‘Leading with Heart’. The event began with an activity that encouraged attendees to get to know each other in a deeper way, asking questions such as ‘What was a meaningful moment in your role?’

This was followed by facilitated learning and a discussion about leading with heart through Tanach, prepared by United Synagogue Educator Shira Jackson. After lunch, participants also heard from United Synagogue Chief Executive Jo Grose, and Rebbetzen Chaya Chana Hughes who shared a story titled ‘Every heartbeat is a miracle’.

Welcoming the Rebbetzens to the event, Rebbetzen Eva Chapper said: “Today is an opportunity to step away from the demands of leadership and spend time together as not only colleagues but also friends on this unique journey. As Rebbetzins, we wear many hats, such as teacher, listener, organiser and often the quiet support behind the scenes. Yet at the source of everything we do is something far more powerful than any title: our hearts.
Today is a day to strengthen the bonds between us, renew our spirits, and remind us of the extraordinary impact we have when we lead not only with our minds, but with our hearts.”
