‘Safeguarding in the community’ seminar

The United Synagogue recently held a ‘Safeguarding in the community’ seminar for our Community Safeguarding Coordinators and Care Coordinators. These volunteers and staff work tirelessly across the United Synagogue helping to protect and safeguard vulnerable members of our communities.

The seminar, which was entitled ‘What Happens Next?’, hosted colleagues from Barnet’s Children’s and Adults’ Services as well as the Police.  We are very grateful to all those in the Local Authority safeguarding partnership who gave up their time to clarify what happens when a referral is made to the Authorities. In contrast to the common misconception that the likely outcome is the breaking up of families, we heard about the vast amount of support that is on offer and the extent of time and effort that goes in to ensuring the support is bespoke to those who need it.

We were delighted to have such positive feedback from 32 representatives from 26 United Synagogue communities.

Miriam Moore from Shenley United Synagogue said: “Thank you so much it was very informative and excellent speakers. It is so reassuring to know that you are all here to help us.”
