The Wembley Kehillah enjoyed a really lovely Shavuot/Shabbat. The first day of Shavuot we indulged ourselves with an ice-cream and cheesecake Kiddush following a meaningful Service led by Daryl Luder. On Shabbat, with the sunbeams dancing across the Shul and beaming faces inside, we celebrated the 80th birthday of our member, John Sloggem.
John is much admired by everyone who knows him. His reputation as a most able and respected Civil Servant goes before him and is reflected in the way his advice is often sought. His loyalty and commitment to both Hackney and Wembley Shuls is well known and that loyalty, together with his bonhomie, has cemented deep friendships across the years.
Happy birthday, John, and thank you for hosting the Kiddush and allowing us all to celebrate with you.
