Sukkot was a busy and joyful time at Barnet Shul this year, with a range of inclusive activities bringing together members of all ages.
The youngest members of the community enjoyed a Jura-Sukkah Safari, a dinosaur-themed sukkah crawl. Children visited sukkot around the area, playing games, enjoying food and singing songs along the way.
For our high-school-aged members, Rabbi and Rebbetzen Lister hosted Pizza in the Hut, with great food and plenty of fun in the sukkah. The event featured the annual Kahoot competition, with reigning champion Evan taking the title for the second year running.
We also welcomed residents from our local Norwood Home to the shul sukkah for an afternoon of activities, crafts and festive goodies.
Adult members of Barnet Shul were not left out, with members opening their homes and sukkot to host an Adult Sukkah Crawl, bringing the community together for an evening of food, friendship and fun. Each sukkah offered a different course, from soup through to dessert, while hosts shared their own personal sukkah stories with their guests. It was a lovely evening, with delicious food and drink enjoyed in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. This was the first time that this event has taken place, but will no doubt become a regular part of the Barnet chagim calendar.
Rabbi Lister said: “The activities that took place over Sukkot at Barnet Shul were great examples of community, friendship and fun. Members new and old visited sukkot around Barnet, bringing people of all ages together to create a real sense of warmth, connection and celebration.”
