Chesed’s thank you tea for volunteers

US Chesed hosted a thank‑you tea for Chesed volunteers from across the United Synagogue ahead of Volunteers’ week next month. Bringing together volunteers involved in befriending, social clubs, hospital visiting and other Chesed projects.

Rebbetzen Jacqueline Feldman, Rebbetzen of Bushey United Synagogue and Co-chair of the Rebbetzins’ Representative Council, spoke about faith during difficult times: “Our strength comes from being together, from refusing to let people suffer alone, from creating space for humanity. People need spaces where they can be real, where they can grieve, question, hope, cry, laugh, pray and heal together.”

Karen Kinsley, Care Coordinator at Pinner United Synagogue, said: “Thank you so much for yesterday’s lovely afternoon. We and my volunteers found it inspiring and you struck just the right tone. Rebbetzen Feldman’s talk was wonderful and the food much appreciated.”

Frances Grossman, Vice Chair of Belmont United Synagogue and Chesed volunteer, said: “As many of our shuls have ageing communities, the demands on local Chesed groups increases and this is certainly the case with us. No-one volunteers for the glory but it is a good feeling to have a virtual pat on the back with events like these!”
