The work of US Chesed extends beyond the Jewish community, embracing a wider social responsibility through initiatives guided by the principle of Gemilut Chasidim, performing acts of loving kindness.

Our range of transformative Social Responsibility Projects touch the lives of thousands of individuals and families. US Chesed pioneers innovative campaigns, rallying the support of volunteers from within the United Synagogue and beyond.

Some highlights include:

  • Establishing asylum seeker and refugee drop-in centres with holistic support services such as professional advice from doctors, lawyers and councillors, a play area for the children, homework club and supermarket vouchers to help purchase food.
  • Crafting and distributing thousands of Mishloach Manot boxes for Purim for Jewish charities and care homes.
  • Bringing joy to children in need with festive gifts during the holiday season by collecting, and wrapping thousands of brand new gifts
  • Operating a community restaurant fuelled by surplus food donations, combating food waste and loneliness with every meal.
  • Managing a Stationery Bank, supplying struggling families with school essentials for equal academic opportunities.
  • Empowering youth to create bespoke social responsibility projects tied to their interests in honour of their upcoming Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
  • Hosting educational events and session addressing refugee issues, asylum seekers, and period poverty.
