The United Synagogue, Office of the Chief Rabbi and London Beth Din archives are housed at the The London Archives, and include a wealth of administrative and financial documentation, correspondence, membership records, photographs and slides, press cuttings, and orders of service.

Our records can only be accessed in person and with permission from the United Synagogue. To request access, please complete the form below with as much detail as possible. We aim to respond as promptly as we can.

We are unable to undertake the following:

  • Genealogical or family history research on behalf of enquirers.
  • This includes requests relating to family trees, name searches, or ancestry research.
  • Due to the very high volume of these enquiries, we are unfortunately unable to respond to them individually.
  • If you are looking for marriage authorisations, you can find out more info and search them here (these documents are issued by the Office of the Chief Rabbi. They are not marriage certificates, which are issued by the Registrar General departments across the United Kingdom).
  • Please note that we cannot provide birth, marriage, or death certificates.
  • If you are trying to find out whether someone is buried in one of the United Synagogue cemeteries, you can search here.
  • If you are looking for a Copy of a Ketuba, please be in touch with the London Beth Din.
