Chat ‘n’ share – Yom Ha’azmaut lunch
Israel’s Eurovision winner ‘Halleluyah’ was just one of many Israeli tunes sung by blue-and-white-clad members of Pinner Synagogue Chat n’ Share group, led by Rabbi Jason Kleiman, as they enjoyed a delicious Israel-themed Yom Ha’Atzmaut lunch.
“Chat n’Share started over ten years ago as a small weekly get-together for ‘tea and cake’,” explained Doreen Samuels, on the organising team, “and during Covid the group became a valuable online resource, with speakers and other programmes.”
Once the group resumed, numbers grew, and Pinner Synagogue Welfare Officer Karen Kinsley was able to obtain a grant for an expanded and subsidised café menu. Now members meet weekly, often with a speaker, a singer, or an activity such as chair yoga.
“This Yom Ha’Atzmaut lunch has been such a joyful celebration, with so much singing and laughter,” said Doreen, adding, “For the volunteer team, Chat n’Share is one of our favourite days of the week.”
