Kenton Community Hosts Moving Solidarity Event with World Zionist Organisation

The World Zionist Organisation joined Kenton Synagogue on Tuesday evening for a powerful and uplifting solidarity event, an event appropriately named Am Yisrael Chai and bringing together the wider community and the distinguished Israeli delegation including members of the Knesset, in a show of solidarity following last week’s attack and in attendance were local councillors and Aidan Lester representing FZY

The event was expertly hosted by Matan Bar Noy. The packed Shul was welcomed by Kenton Synagogue Chair, Ruth Topper, who spoke about being awoken in the night to hear the terrible news of the Shul’s attack.

Tehillim for Israel was led by Rabbi Black, creating a moment of reflection and solidarity.  The tone was then lifted by the beautiful singing of a few songs by Hasmonean Primary year 6 class. This was followed by a rapp recalling the history of Kenton Synagogue by Gabriel Spiers.

The distinguished speaks of the evening were Members of the Knesset, David Bitan and Oded Furer who delivered heartfelt speeches of unity and with Reuven Vazan providing some translation. The next distinguished speaker was Reverend Hayley Ace who spoke so passionately about Christian solidarity with both the local Jewish community and Israel, reinforcing the message of we are not alone.

The event drew an audience of approximately 170 people, including many former members of the Kenton community, all coming together in a strong demonstration of support and connection. Kurpesh Hirani Assembly Member for Brent and Harrow was also in attendance.

The evening was hugely successful and a morale-boosting occasion, reaffirming the strength, unity, and enduring spirit of the Kenton community and a privilege to have the members of the Knesset and delegation at Kenton.
