Of the twenty cemeteries maintained by the United Synagogue Burial Society, a number are what we call “Heritage Cemeteries” where burials rarely take place but which we preserve on behalf of the Jewish community.
These cemeteries are of great historic significance, and are the final resting places of many great rabbis, aristocrats, philanthropists, and other community members who left lasting impacts during their lives.
Many of these cemeteries can now be visited by prior arrangement, and we will soon be launching a new series of guided walks.
Are you passionate about exploring Jewish heritage? We’re seeking dedicated individuals for research at our historic cemeteries.
